Perth, WA, 17-23 Dec 2012. This is definitely one of the holidays I will never forget, for life.
Never before have I felt so comfortable in a foreign country that I hadn't been to in almost a decade (the last time I went to Australia was when I was P1/P2 lol, we went Gold Coast).
Learnt a lot of things there, got exposed to a different culture, and have this longing to go back there and just stay there forever, if I had the money of cos lol.
Perth has made an impact in my life, and I really enjoy this holiday. Wish it could be longer, or for a lifetime preferably? HAHAH. Anyways it's kinda good to be back too. Singapore is where I belong after all.
It was in Perth that I got my first tan line and became chao ta lol. My skin isn't silken tofu anymore but dry, takes a while to become back to silken tofu and get used to the humidity in Singapore already hahaha.
It was in Perth that I realised so many things about myself that needed changes. Did some self-reflection with the help of my Uncle who planned this whole trip love you Uncle Eric thanks so much for planning this awesome trip!! When I came back Singapore, I decided to start anew, start afresh, with the help of a very good friend/bro of mine who pulled me back to earth and made me realise how pissy, easily frustrated and unpleasant I've become ever since entering into Leave the past behind. Let it go, hold on to it no more, and move on.
Anyways let's start on the commentary of the trip :)
Day 0 - 16 Dec Sunday (Not included cos my flight is a midnight flight but whatever I'm just gonna post the details of the time in the airport LOL)
Sending my goodbye msgs and calls at home, before leaving, and also in the airport haha.
We had to reach airport T1 by 9.15pm and after that, went to check in our luggages. Mummy and I shared a damn dua luggage, Daddy took a medium sized one, and Bro took a small one. The rest of us had our own luggage :)
Saw this cool kinetic rain thingy at T1.
After checking in, went into the duty free area and stayed 2 hours inside there, makan-ing some snacks (soft-boiled eggs, toasts, bandung lol) and shopped a bit, and took pictures. Went to wait for the boarding of the flight, and finally after 2 hours went into the plane, and it took off at about 11.35-11.45pm?
We took Qantas airline, and I realised they have a lot more air stewards than air stewardesses.
Day 1 - 17 Dec Monday
In the plane, enjoying the adrenaline rush of the plane going into the air. Watched Ted and food came at around 12midnight plus-1am. Took Curry Chicken with potato salad, hard roll bread and mango sago pudding. Drank orange juice. Aunty Lynette gave me her pork in her ee fu noodles and I gave her some of my curry chicken. Shared with Daddy Mummy's mango sago pudding and took some of Aunty Lynette's salad LOL I'm such a pig.
Tried to sleep after watched Ted finished but apparently some ppl in the plane dk what's called sleep. I can see the bright screens lol. But I managed to fall asleep for 1 hour plus maybe? Though I'm kind of convinced I only slept 1 hour lol. And Mum took a pic of me sleeping with my mouth open -_-
Touched down at Perth at 4plus am. Immigration, luggages done, waited at the airport for Stephen, our transportation guy to come at 6.30am. Decided to take some photos while waiting. Saw an awesome lighted Christmas tree and took pics, bought some very expensive water (omg water there is so ex), and went outside to feel the coolness of the morning. Lo and behold, the sun was already risen at that timing lol. Cos it's summer there, so long days and short nights. The sun rises early and sets late. It's cold in the morning and night, but afternoon is hot. Lots of huge annoying flies around that flies to your face lol one almost went into my mouth thank God it only got to my lips. In the city it's alright, not a lot of flies, but in the countryside there's a lot. Under shelter is cooling cos of the wind, but under the sun it's hot in the afternoon. But the first few days we were there, it was cooling the whole day lol thank God we brought our jackets and sweaters. But mid-trip started to get real hot.
Okay so went outside the airport to feel the coolness and took pics. Went back in, waited a while, and Stephen came. He owns a company, Westside Private Charters, and if you ever wanna go Perth, check it out. It's really good and he really caters to all our needs. Thank God for Stephen during our trip, really nice person and very courteous. Thanks Stephen for bringing us around man!! Really appreciate your thoughtfulness :)
We went to Kings Park and saw the awesome view of the swan lake and CBD skyline of Perth there, took pics, and walked around and visited a war monument.
Then we went to the apartment we were gonna stay at for a week, Verandah apartments, 84 Fitzgerald Street.
I was like wow-ing and ooh-ing and ahh-ing when we reached the apartment. It's like a mansionette with 3 bedrooms (upstairs 1 [Uncle Eric, Rech, Bro], downstairs 2 [Aunty Lynette, Grandpa, Uncle Lawrence] [Mummy, Daddy, me]), 2 bathrooms (should give more), 2 sitting areas with tv (one upstairs one downstairs), a balcony with seats and table, as well as bbq equipment, and a very nice kitchen area with a bar concept.
Awesome place, I got quite attached to this place lol felt like it was home cos it was so cosy. Nice apartment.
Okay then washed up and slept from 12pm-3pm lol. And woke up realising my sleeping pic got taken by Bro -_- Cos I was the last to wake up LOL. Ate lunch, fried beehoon with luncheon meat.
Then took a Blue CAT (Central Area Transit, a bus system in certain streets with certain different colours [there's blue, yellow and red if I'm not wrong lol], and it's free!!) to tour around Perth and just sightsee. And the system is really good, they tell you how many mins more to the next CAT coming, and on the bus they have a sign to show you which is your next destination, and there's even a map there of all the different colours of CAT's route. Really good system, and the frequency of the CAT is 5 mins on weekdays, and 15 mins on weekends.
Then took a walk to Chinatown, around 10 mins walk away from the apartment cos it's near. I was staying near Chinatown so that's why I ate more Asian than Western food there LOL. It was nice and cooling, and had a nice walk, took pics, and ate at a food court called Old Shanghai there. The food there is super ex omg one Japanese salmon teriyaki set $14 plus Aussie dollars. At least got 3 salmon fillets, a huge salad which I so badly needed and rice and miso soup. Not bad, quite nice :)
Went back to the apartment and slept lol. Oh yah during this trip we all slept very early, like around 9plus-10pm. The latest I slept was 10plus nearing 11pm. But woke up early too of cos haha.
Day 2 - 18 Dec Tuesday
Stephen picked us up and drove to Caversham Wildlife Park. Fed kangaroos, took pics and felt the furry legs of the wombat, and took more pics as we had 1 hour of guided tour there. Loved the dingo and other native Australian animals :) Had a great time there though the flies were a tad annoying.
The kangaroos damn cute one lol when you bend down and feed them, they will take one pallet of food and then put their paws on your hand to say like they wanna chope these food LOL.
Then, went to a chocolate factory and bought a small pack of dark chocolates for $4.95 Aussie dollars back lol. Dad bought white and milk chocolates. They had free tasting I took a a considerable amount of each 3 flavours LOL.
Bro and I posing with the sample bowl. HUGE BOWLS OF MILK, DARK AND WHITE CHOCOLATE YUM.
Then went to an ice-cream outlet, shared some fruit (cant remember which fruit/fruits lol) yoghurt ice cream with Bro. Mum and I went crazy by the cute display outside the shop and the flowers which bloomed.
The ice cream was awesome :)
After that, drove to Seabird, a town, and stopped for some Fish & Chips yummm :) The Fish & Chips there is really good, the fries are fat and thick and stuffed with potato and really awesome, and the fish is super fresh yummm!!
Took pics there too cos the scenery of the sea was just too awesome.
Then drove to The Pinnacles, one of my most fav places there. The scenery is really super awesome and even though it's a desert, it's near the coast so it was real windy and good at the expense of my hair flipping all about LOL. Thank God for holding the rain cos when we just got there, it was drizzling but when we walked to the desert area, it stopped miraculously. Thank You Lord :)
The Pinnacles was great, and the rocks had so many different shapes and it was just so natural and great and awesome.
Then drove to Chinatown and ate char siew and duck rice (Stephen's recommendation, really awesome!!) to takeaway and drove to Cottlesloe Beach to watch the sunset. It was super cold and the sea breeze was blowing our minds away but thank God we managed to snap good shots of the awesome sunset and find a warm place to eat our food.
Then drove to Kings Park and snapped pics of the night city skyline.
Me and Aunty Lynette here haha. Was super scared of the heights so was grasping onto the handle LOL.
Drove back to the apartment, wash up, slept.
Day 3 - 19 Dec Wednesday
Shopping at somewhere, Idk where is it LOL but I know we took the Blue CAT from near our apartment at Russell Square.
Shopped at Target, a local departmental store and bought 2 boxes of seashell chocolates (yes church ppl, the one you ate today hahahaha!!) ME AND BRO OUTSIDE TARGET WITH BRO'S CHINK EYES HAHAHAHAHAHAH.
And saw this awesome shirt. Suits me ^^ But it's Mens size XL >:(
Ate Hungry Jack's for lunch, awesome man :) Fast food is so much cheaper there lol.
Took a yellow CAT to Harbourtown, a factory outlet, which is also a shopping haven for me. Good clothes at cheap prices yess (Y) Bought lotsa stuff hehehe.
Went back at 4plus and ate homecooked dinner, curry chicken and veggies plus fruits yay.
Washed up, slept.
Day 4 - 20 Dec Thursday
Weather forecast : 35%
Totally chao ta and burnt that day. That was the day I got the super ugly tan line on my feet lol.
We drove to Wave Rock. A 4 hour journey there, and another 4 back. Thanks Stephen, it was tiring man!!
Had breaks in between the journeys.
Reached Wave Rock, was flacking hot, and Dad got us little branches to help fend away the flies (omg the flies were esp a lot here cos we went further inland alr), and Stephen got us nettings to put on our heads lololol it was good and effective in fending away the flies man thanks!
Climbed up the rock too, was awesome!! Kudos to Mum to go all the way up!! :D (Y)
On top alr!! Me with my weapons in fighting the damn flies. Branches and netting.
Okay and I look super retarded with this pic below lol.
Then took a short drive to the Hippo Yawn, a rock which resembles a hippo yawning lol.
Then headed back, stopped for some grocery shopping at a town and also lunch (burgers in the car, the burgers were huge but I finished one all by myself LOL hungry). Thanks Uncle Eric for buying them :)
Stopped at like where it seems to be in the middle of nowhere (farmland maybe?) lol and tried to take pics w the sheep, but they zhao damn fast once they saw us near the fence -_-
Went to Chinatown to eat at Saigon, a Vietnamese restaurant, food and chilli were awesome :)
Day 5 - 21 Dec Friday
FREMENTLE DAY!! SHOPPING DAY!! SOUVENIRS DAY!! (yes that's where I bought your koala and kangaroos softtoys and keychains, and macadamia nuts :))
Went to the Frementle War Monument
Walked past/over a railway to take a CAT, first time experience, was awesome :)
Then took a CAT (can't remember what colour it was) to Frementle Markets, awesome place. Too bad we only could spend 1 hour there :(
Visited souvenir shops otw back (we walked back to E-Shed Markets) and saw this advert
This is a property company IF I'M NOT WRONG.
Omg hilarious laughed like mad.
Went back to E-Shed Markets and Stephen came with his cute little 2 years old boy, Will!! :)
The little precious was the center of attention the rest of the time he was with us. Soooooo cute :)))
Then we went back to the apartment and put all our stuff down, took some pics with Will and went for dinner at a HK steamboat restaurant in Chinatown. Steamboat buffet was filling but awesome.
Washed up, slept.
Day 6 - 22 Dec Saturday
WENT BACK TO TARGET TO SPEND THE 10% VOUCHER, AND THEN WENT BACK TO HARBOURTOWN TOO FOR MORE SHOPPING HAHAHAHA (Y)
Fam outside Target hehehe.
Took a yellow CAT to Harbourtown.
GETTING MAI GELATO IN HARBOURTOWN. RASPBERRY WHITE CHOCOLATE WITH TRUFFLES YUM.
Bought lots of stuff at Harbourtown and I got miself a handful of belts LOL as well as many other stuff :) Cheap and good!!
Took the CAT back to the railway station, tea break at the food court near there.
AWKWARDLY POSING WITH A SUBWAY SANDWICH. OMG I SEE A DOUBLE CHIN FORMING SHIT CRAP OH NOOOOOOOO AND WHY IS MY FACE SO MEATY AND FAT SHIT NEEDA LOSE WEIGHT AND LOSE THE FATS ON THAT FACE ASAP.
On the bright side, got to try my Subway in Australia before we left, thank God :)
Aunty Lynette and I outside Coles!! This is like the Australian version of NTUC hahaha very cheap!! This is the level on top of the food court in the mall haha.
Took a Blue CAT back to the apartment and Aunty Lynette and Mummy as well as Uncle Lawrence whipped up an awesome homecooked Italian pasta with salad and veggies :) I helped cut the fruits :) Fresh apricots from Frementle Markets the day before and oranges from Idk where lol.
Showing how AWESOME the food is. Oh not to mention we got some 1.5 litres bottles of Australian soft drinks for 90 cents each at Coles ;) Those were yummy!!
Ate, watched Fairy Tail ep 162 on Rech's phone LOL thanks Rech, washed up and slept.
Day 7 - 23 Dec Sunday
Didn't wanna wake up cos I didn't wanna leave Perth.
But woke up anyways -.- Got shook up by Mum lol and was the last to wake up.
Ate breakfast, kissed the apartment bye, and Stephen drove us to the airport. Dreading to go home at that time. Then checked in luggages (LOL Mum and my luggage weighed 20.1kg HAHAHAH), went into duty free area and shopped until our plane was ready for boarding.
Sat Qantas again, and we flew off at around 12plus pm? Lunch was served at 1plus pm if I'm not wrong. Ate lamb with creamy leek pasta with cheese & crackers, hard roll and salad with balsamic vinegariette (dk how to spell). Drank ginger ale. Best ginger ale I ever had woots (Y) Watched Ice Age : Continental Drift, No Strings Attached, a bit of The Big Bang Theory, and 1 ep of How I Met Your Mother. They served ice cream (mango and cream omg an Australian ice cream it was soooo good) and apples as well.
Touched down Singapore at around 5plus pm.
Scan the passport, collect luggages, ate dinner w fam, mee rebeus and toast shared with Mum at T1. Spicy yum yum. Took taxi back home.
Home sweet home. Feels good to be back.
But until now I haven't started on projects. Dw to face reality.
I'm so dead :)
Haha anyways Perth was awesome. Thank God there were lots of other Asians around, if not I'll feel so weird and awkward haha. Thank God for keeping us safe, protecting us and blessing us with a great and awesome time with great memories :)
